We hope all of you had a great time on the day and now, here’s the event summary.
Even before the store opened at 10am, some of our dedicated members were already patiently waiting outside. They wanted to be among the first to enter and select their desired less-than-perfect free items in support of our waste reduction efforts. To express our gratitude for their early arrival, we provided these early birds with a light breakfast, which included curry puffs and drinks.
In less than two hours after opening, the most sought-after items, such as candle warmers, scenterpieces, and large scented candles, had already been claimed.
At 1pm, our beloved Yankee Candle mascots, Pink Sands and Bahamas Breeze, made a delightful appearance at the store, causing excitement in the crowd as everyone sought photo opportunities. In anticipation of this, we organized a “Pose, Snap & Post” photo contest, and we’re thrilled to announce our two lucky winners, Ms. Raina and Ms. Catherine. They shared their charming picture and video taken with our Yankee Candle mascots and won a limited edition Yankee Candle Wonder Scent of the Year 2023 signature large tumbler candle.
At 2pm and 6pm, we hosted soap-making demonstration sessions that captured the attention of the content creators who were present at the event. A couple of them eagerly participated in the hands-on experience and filmed the process to create content about their unique soap-making journey. Watch Video 1 & Video 2.
At 3 pm, our special guests arrived, and the mystery was unveiled – they are none other than the popular Douyin Frogs duo, the mother and child mascots presented by wa_lao_ehh. They immediately created a buzz outside our store, bringing immense joy to PLQ mall shoppers.
In addition to the exciting activities mentioned above, our exclusive one-day promotions offering discounts of up to 60% triggered a shopping frenzy among our members and first-time customers. We trust that those who made purchases on that day are delighted with their savings and are now enjoying our products.

Pick Up an Item for Free
Since 2015, we have been giving away those less-than-perfect products to our members instead of throwing these products away. We call these items F(Re)e items. This is one of our many ways of reducing waste and our customers have been our biggest supporters all these years.
What Can You Expect to Pick Up at Our 9.9 Flea Market?
- Spring/Summer 2024 candle samples;
- Candle Warmers that are display units with some visible scratches (10+ pieces);
- Scented jar candles that are either discoloured or with slightly melted wax due to exposure to high temperature (80+ large, 100+ small, 40+ w/gift box);

F(Re)e items are given away on a first-come-first serve basis and you can pick any product you fancy. Customers are known to show up as early as 4.30a.m. so you should be prepared to queue and wait in the morning.

1. What is this Flea Market all about?
It is a member-only event where members can go to Purely @ PLQ Mall, Singapore on 9 Sep 2023 to pick up a f(re)e item of their choice. A f(re)e item is one that has a slight defect (maybe a missing or torn label) and still in excellent usable condition.
2. Do I need to make a purchase to pick up a f(re)e item?
If you are already our member, you do not need to make any purchase to pick up your f(re)e item. If you are not yet our member, simply visit any Purely or Yankee Candle store before 9.9 or head to Purely @ PLQ Mall on 9 Sep 2023, make a purchase of any amount, and register as our member for free.
3. Can you help me reserve a specific f(re)e item? I will pick it up on the actual day.
No. We do not allow reservation of items. It is on a first-come-first-serve basis.
4. Can I exchange the f(re)e item for cash or other products if I realised subsequently I don’t like it?
No. F(re)e Items are non-exchangeable for other items or cash.
5. I cannot be sure if I’m a member or not. How can I check?
You may call, sms, Whatsapp or email your favourite store listed below and let them know you would like to confirm if you are our member. Please provide your (1) Full Name (2) Mobile Number and (3) Email Address for us to check for you.

6. I cannot make it on 9 Sep 2023. Can I ask a friend to pick up the item on my behalf?
No. You will have to pick up the f(re)e item youself. We do not allow collection on your behalf by someone else.
7. What time does it start? What time does it end?
It starts at 10a.m on 9 Sep 2023.
We have had members who showed up as early as 4.25a.m. to make sure they are first in line to pick up an item they really wanted. If you come between 10a.m. to 11a.m., there is a high likelihood that you may have to wait in line.
The flea market ends at 10p.m. on 9 Sep 2023.
8. Is there a chance that I may leave empty-handed?
No. As long as you are our member, we make sure you will not leave empty-handed.
9. Can I have the full address of Purely @ PLQ Mall?
Of course. PLQ Mall is located at 10 Paya Lebar Road, Paya Lebar Quarter, Singapore 409057.
